Snips and Snails.....

"Snips and snails and puppy dogs tails, that's what little boys are made of".......or the saying goes.  Well, I am here to tell you, if you do not have a boy - this is not true.  They are made of snot and poop and grime and stench and noise and testosterone.  The other thing they are made of is lots of love.  Sure, they annoy me and drive me crazy sometimes but when the "Ah" moment hits, it sticks with you forever.
There were a number of things that really surprised me when I became a mother.  The first was that, I would be one of those moms with 3 boys!  I thought we were done after 2 but #3 snuck his way in.  So I guess the surprise was on me when I was told it was another boy.  At least I knew what I was getting in to.  Well, that is what I thought.  Truth be told, I am learning every day.  I recently watched my 2 oldest boys interacting (well more like fighting) and I was in awe.  I do not have an understanding of the dynamic of brotherhood.  I had one brother so of course I knew our relationship but I didn't have a clue as to what type of relationship existed between brothers.  I don't get it.  I tried to wrap my head around it for a few minutes, just watching them.  I am still in the dark just as I was 5 years ago.  What excites me the most is seeing how the youngest one fits into the mix.  So far he seems the strongest and the most determined out of all 3.
Another surprising fact about children is that in addition to the messiness, they are LOUD!  VERY, VERY LOUD!  Most nights the kids just run around the house and scream.  Now that Brady has found his found, he just screams to fit in.  Sounds fun, right?!
So far the biggest surprise is how you can't make this stuff up.  Those moments come almost daily.  Whoever coined the phrase, "Kids say the darndest things" knew what they were talking about because yes they do!  I wish I had listened to the advice I was given and actually wrote some of the zingers down.  I am getting better about it though.
